Lab & quality standards

Standards you can verify.

Compounding is only as good as the room it happens in and the discipline behind it. Here is exactly how Mixwell prepares medication in Chino, California — the standards we follow, the lab we built, and the checks every preparation passes.

The standards we operate under

USP 795 Compliant

Non-sterile compounding

The United States Pharmacopeia chapter governing how non-sterile preparations are compounded — covering ingredients, beyond-use dating, documentation, and facility requirements.

USP 800 Compliant

Hazardous drug handling

The chapter governing safe handling of hazardous drugs, including containment engineering, personal protective equipment, and dedicated negative-pressure space.

CA BOP Licensed

California Board of Pharmacy

Mixwell is a licensed pharmacy operating under California state regulation and subject to Board inspection and oversight.

PCCA Member

Professional membership

Membership in the Professional Compounding Centers of America gives us access to tested formulations, high-purity chemicals, and ongoing technical training.

Purpose-built

An HD negative-pressure compounding lab.

Hazardous drugs require containment — not as a courtesy, but as a regulatory requirement under USP 800. Our lab was purpose-built for it, using negative pressure to keep airborne particles inside the compounding room and away from staff, patients, and other preparations.

This is the same infrastructure that lets us prepare hormone therapy, LDN, and other sensitive formulations without cross-contamination.

What every preparation passes through

  1. 1

    Prescription review

A pharmacist reviews the order for dose, form, and clinical appropriateness — and calls the prescribing office directly if anything needs clarifying.

  2. 2

    Ingredient sourcing and lot documentation

Active ingredients are sourced from established suppliers, and every lot used in a preparation is documented for traceability.

  3. 3

    Compounding under USP standards

The preparation is compounded in our lab following USP 795 procedures, and USP 800 containment protocols where hazardous drugs are involved.

  4. 4

    Verification and labeling

Each preparation is checked for accuracy and consistency, then labeled with directions and an appropriate beyond-use date.

  5. 5

    Release

Ready in 24 to 48 hours for most formulations — available for local pickup or California mail delivery.

Questions prescribers ask us

Is Mixwell a licensed pharmacy?
Yes. Mixwell Compounding Pharmacy is licensed by the California Board of Pharmacy and operates under state regulation and inspection. Our pharmacy is located at 13788 Roswell Ave, Ste 158, Chino, CA 91710.
Does Mixwell follow USP 795 and USP 800?
Yes. Mixwell compounds under USP 795 standards for non-sterile preparations and USP 800 standards for handling hazardous drugs, including a purpose-built HD negative-pressure compounding lab.
Does Mixwell do sterile compounding or injectables?
No. Mixwell is a non-sterile compounding pharmacy only. We do not prepare injectables, IV medications, or any sterile products. If a patient needs a sterile preparation, we will say so and direct you elsewhere.
Are compounded medications FDA-approved?
No. Compounded preparations are not FDA-approved drug products. Compounding is a regulated pharmacy practice in which a licensed pharmacist prepares a medication for an individual patient on the order of a licensed prescriber. Compounded medications are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or manufacturing quality the way commercially manufactured drugs are.
What is PCCA membership and why does it matter?
PCCA — the Professional Compounding Centers of America — supplies member pharmacies with tested formulations, high-purity chemicals, analytical support, and continuing technical training. Membership is a professional standard rather than a government license, and it signals ongoing investment in compounding-specific expertise.
How long does a compounded prescription take?
Most formulations are ready within 24 to 48 hours, depending on ingredient availability. Complex or specialty preparations may take longer. Call (909) 378-7301 and we will give you an accurate timeline before you commit.
